The "Brain" is amazing.

Today I traded BIDU and followed the trades from opening bell till 10:45 am when I prepared to leave flat.I exercised my decisions using only the brain and found entries at the extremes and exits at appropriate reversal points when the brain indicated the equity was failing to break support or resistance. In a short period of time I managed a very nice day improving my use of the brain. My trades were profitable with no emotion to cloud my judgement. While trading BIDU equity, when I went short I…See More

Working Within the SMF Trading System

Today was a confirmation of the importance of trading within the SMF trading system rules. 14 trades were entered and closed. The absence of buyers and sellers restricted price movements to small ranges. This was not the typical Monday trading action where fund managers usually join in the market adding to the volatility. The good news is that all failed trades and successful trades accounted for a very small negative day. This is very different from my experiences when I traded outside the SMF…See More

Risk Management Lesson Repeated

Volatility in today's market brought to light another example of the "Bishop's Rule" . . . always use a stop-market order no matter what.Setting a stop market order once the equity trade is entered greatly reduces risk and will give me an opportunity to enter again at a lower price and capture an even greater gain in the transaction. The best wholesale equity price is not enough to rely on. I will never knowingly enter into another equity trade without placing a stop-market order. This is a very…See More

Staying on a trade - Goog 4-26

Today I watched Google intent with the idea to enter into a trade around the low of the day and capture the move up which occurs daily in high beta stocks like Google. I entered a trade near the low of the day and got stopped out with a small loss. It is common to get stopped out with high beta stocks like Google. The entry was near the low of the day and I stayed with it. Two more trades were similarly stopped out. Staying with the stock, I entered a fourth trade with positive indicators we…See More

Today's lessons 4-19-2010

Today we entered volatility trades with GS and IBM and I purchased half of my S & P volatility trade. I need to complete the put trade as soon as possible (with wholesale pricing) to position the trade for the most profit at the least risk. We also entered after hours trades in response to a favorable IBM earnings report. The IBM report had no negative surprises and the market dropped the stock price after hours allowing us to enter the trade over $ 2.50 below the market. As the market…See More

S&P Volatility Trading with Risk Management

Today's demo and discussion of the new trading platform was awesome and is further confirmation of the life changing events unfolding for us. S&P Volatility Trading with Risk Management was equally exciting. Thanks Khoa for the demo, thanks Mario for the ongoing lessons and thanks to Ken for helping with Twitter and Facebook. The S&P Volatility Trade requires the purchase of a correctly timed deflated call and put option for the S&P Index. The put side will be left untouched while…See More
