McDonald's (MCD) released its lowest monthly sales results since 2003 on Wednesday, sending shares down. Other fast-food restaurants also dropped.
The fast-food giant said July same-store sales, or sales in restaurants open at least a year, were flat overall. In the U.S., sales fell 0.1% and European sales were down 0.6%. But sales at the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa segment were down 1.5%.
In mid-July McDonald's said it expected a rise in July sales, but nothing like its 3.7% gain in the second quarter.
