Friday Technical Summary -Update-
Buyers initially stepped up on this light volume, post-Thanksgiving session, pushing the S&P and Dow Jones indices above their respective Wednesday's afternoon highs during the first hour. However, that upward momentum faded as a lagging Nasdaq index and continued strength in the US Dollar took their toll on stocks. Sellers aggressively began to regain control into midday and erased earlier gains into the close, leaving the markets down for a 7th consecutive lower close. Lagging sectors today included Internet, Gold, Coals, Computer Hardware, Semis, HMO's and Energy. Displaying relative strength were Aerospace/Defense, Tobacco, Utilities, Financials, and Staples.
